This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Natural Gas Brief collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Natural Gas Brief is published by Googans Island LLC ("we," "us," "our"). It covers naturalgasbrief.com, our email newsletters and subscriptions (the "Service").

1. Information we collect

Information you give us - Account information: your email address and, if you provide it, your name, when you sign up for a free or paid subscription. - Comments and messages: what you post in comments or send us by email.

Payment information - Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details and billing information directly. - We receive limited information from Stripe, such as your subscription status, plan, billing country, and the card brand and last four digits. We never receive or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically - Email engagement: whether you open our emails and which links you click. We use this to understand which content is useful and to keep our sending healthy. - Website analytics: pages viewed, referring sites, and approximate location and device type. Our publishing platform's analytics are cookie-free and first-party. - Signup source: the post or page where you subscribed. - Technical data: IP address, browser type and access times in server logs, used for security and operations.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to: - deliver the newsletters and website content you signed up for - create and manage your account and subscription, including billing, renewals and cancellations - send service messages, such as welcome emails, receipts and notices about changes to our terms or prices - respond to your questions - understand, in aggregate, which content is most useful, and improve the Service - protect the Service against fraud, spam and abuse - comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it with third parties for their own advertising. If we ever add sponsorships to the newsletter, sponsors won't receive your personal information.

Our AI tools don't see your personal information. The briefs are generated from public market data. We don't send subscriber names, email addresses or other personal information to AI providers.

3. Service providers we use

We share personal information only with providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for that purpose: - Ghost (Ghost Foundation): website hosting, member accounts and newsletter delivery, including its email delivery partner. - Stripe: payment processing, subscription billing and fraud prevention. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business. In a sale or reorganization, this policy continues to apply to your information.

4. Cookies

  • Essential cookies: we use these to keep you signed in to your account and to complete checkout through Stripe.
  • Analytics: our website analytics don't use cookies.
  • Advertising: we don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. How long we keep information

  • While you're subscribed: we keep your account information.
  • After you delete your account: we remove your personal information within 30 days. We keep only what we need for legal, tax or accounting reasons; for example, payment records are kept by Stripe as required by law.
  • Logs and backups: server logs and backups are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe: every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can change your email preferences from your account page.
  • Access, correct or delete: you can view and update your information from your account page, or email us to request a copy, a correction or deletion.
  • California residents: you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't sell or share personal information in that way. We won't discriminate against you for using your rights.
  • EU, UK and similar jurisdictions: we process your information:
  • to provide the Service you signed up for (contract)
  • for our legitimate interests in running and improving the Service
  • with your consent where required

You may also object to or restrict processing, ask for data portability, and complain to your local data protection authority.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. International users

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries.
